Iran on 28 April, summoned Pakistan's Ambassador to Tehran, Asif Ali Khan Durrani, to lodge a protest over the terrorist attack on Iranian border guards in which nine soldiers were killed and two others injured.

The Islamic Republic News Agency quoted Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Bahram Qasemi as saying that Durrani was told that Tehran expects the Pakistan government to adopt serious measures for arrest and punishment of terrorists.

"Unfortunately, Pakistani side of Iran's borders are the most insecure ones and we expect Islamabad to honor its previous promises and prevent repetition of such attacks," Durrani was also told.

Expressing sorrow over the terrorist incident, the envoy insured that he would convey Iran's message to the Pakistani government.

Nine Iranian border guards were killed during an ambush attack by terrorists along the Iran-Pakistan border's zero-point on Wednesday.

The guards were reportedly killed while they were patrolling in Iran's southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
