On the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, more than 3000 Sikh pilgrims have arrived in Pakistan to celebrate the birthday of the founder of Sikh religion from November 21 to 30.

The leaders who received the pilgrims include Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Chairman Tahir Ehsan, Secretary Board Muhammad Tariq Wazir, Pardhan Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) Sardar Tara Singh and other Pakistani Sikh leaders.

Briefing the media about the event to the media, ETPB chairman Ehsan said, “The government has made foolproof security arrangements for the Sikh Yatrees so that many more could visit Pakistan.”

He further said that “They will be provided with free meals, conveyance and medication,” as reported by Geo TV.

Also Sardar Amarjeet Singh, a party leader, said “We get a lot of respect in Pakistan.”

He later on added that, “The opening of the Kirtarpur Border for Guri Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary is a gift to the Sikh community by the governments on both sides.”

The event has brought quite happiness in India as the government has gifted several announcements including developing the Lartatrpur corridor, which is a big success for the Sikhs and has also urged the Pakistani government to look into the matter and build the corridor further to the Kartarpur.

Amarjeet also said that “Over 10,000 Sikh Yatrees will visit Pakistan on the occasion.”

The spokesperson of the Foreign Office, Muhammad Faisal had tweeted saying, “On Eidmiladunnabi Pakistan also welcomes Sikh pilgrims from all over the world, (only our mission in New Delhi has issued more than 3500 visas) for the 549 birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak in Nankana Sahib from November 21-30 2018.”
