Former Fox News anchor and correspondent Heather Nauert has been appointed as the spokesperson for the U.S. State Department.
"Nauert comes to the Department with more than 15 years of experience as an anchor and correspondent covering both foreign and domestic news and events, including the 9-11 terror attacks, the war in Iraq, and the genocide in Darfur, Sudan," said an official statement.
The Donald Trump administration has been operating without an officially appointed spokesperson at the State Department and Deputy Spokesman Mark Toner has been filling in during the past few months. Earlier in January, upset with the win of Republican candidate Donald Trump, an entire senior management team of the US State Department had resigned according to reports.
