COVID-19 Lockdown: 6 people shot at house party for defying stay-at-home order in California

Amid coronavirus lockdown, six people have been shot at a party held in California on Friday night.

Despite stay-at-home orders that have been issued in the state to stop the spread of coronavirus, people have defied the rules and were partying at an apartment in Bakersfield.

The incident came to light when authorities received a call of multiple shots fired at an apartment in the apartment shortly after midnight Saturday morning, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office said.

Police found six victims-- four women, one man, and a girl. The police came to know that a large party was going on before the mishap.

All the victims were taken to a local hospital and were treated for non-life threatening injuries, the BBC reported. According to authorities, the suspects were described as four men who seen fleeing from the spot by a white Sedan.

Meanwhile, no arrests have been made in this connection.

Shockingly, the shooting took place amid statewide stay-at-home order aimed at keeping 40 million people safe from the ghastly virus, which has killed more than 20,000 people in the US.

As per the order given by Governor Gavin Newsom, residents can only leave their homes to buy groceries and medicine, walk a dog or exercise. While non-essential services have been closed.
