In a perturbing case came to light from east London where three British Sikhs were stabbed to death on Sunday evening after a clash broke out between two groups within the community.
Police have arrested the two men aged 29, on suspicion of murder. The probe was started on Sunday night after emergency services’ personnel were called after the altercation erupted between the two groups in the Seven Kings area of Redbridge Ilford.
The three men were supposed to be in the age of 20s and 30s, who left with stab wounds. All three Sikh men died on the spot.
The victims named locally by family and friends as Narinder Singh (26), 26, Harinder Kumar, 22, and Baljit Singh, 34 are thought to have been construction workers from India.
Witnesses have described the fracas as a bloodbath.
All people involved in the squabble were from the Sikh and Hindu communities and the violence broke out after the tensions had risen following a row on Saturday, The Times reported.
According to the PTI, “We believe the parties involved were from the Sikh community and known to each other. A fight has taken place which has escalated, resulting in three people being fatally attacked,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Stephen Clayman, Commander of the Metropolitan Police East Area Command.
“This investigation remains in its early stages and work continues to establish the exact sequence of events that led to this shocking incident. Residents in and around the Seven Kings area will see extra officers on patrol; if you have any concerns, or information that could assist the investigation, please stop and speak to them,” he said.
