Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam and son-in-law captain Safdar jail terms have been suspended by Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday in Avenfield reference and ordered their release.

Nawaz Sharif and his family have challenged in the Accountability Court order which convicted them on July 06 in the corruption case. A division bench of the IHC comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the petitions filed by former premier Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt (retd) Safdar.

As per reports in IBT, the IHC has earlier reserved the verdict after both sides concluded their arguments.

Last week, Nawaz Sharif's wife Kulsoom passed away in London after which he and his daughter, Maryam was temporarily released from prison to attend funeral services.

A division bench of the IHC comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the petitions filed by former PM Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt (retd) Safdar.

Earlier, on Tuesday IHC Judge Athar Minallah issued an introductory order that even if the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor does not conclude his arguments, a verdict will be announced on the pleas, says reports.
