Swiss star Roger Federer has won the Australian Open for the second time in a row. On Sunday, he defeated Croatia's world number-6 Marin Cilic in the final. The 36-year-old Federer captured his own record by claiming the title of the 20th Grand Slam singles. He is the first male tennis player to touch this magical figure. At the same time he has equaled Roy Emerson (Australia) and Novak Djokovic (Serbia) to claim Australian Open Singles titles for the sixth time.

World number-2 Federer beat Marin Cilic 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in 3 hours 3 minutes and 19 seconds. The 29-year-old Cilic once again overtook Federer's experience. Interestingly, last year, Federer captured the 19th Grand Slam title after defeating this Cilic. Federer then beat Cilic 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 in the Wimbledon final.
Federer broke the challenge of South Korea's Hyeon Chung and made it to the final on the 30th Grand Slam of his career. Chung, after struggling Federer for one hour and two, got hurt and left the court. Federer was running 6-1, 5-2 at the time. Cilic had beaten Britain's Kyle Edmund 6-2, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 in the semi-finals.
