Ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha election, the Congress is adding popular faces in its party to field from the respective seats. After Bigg Boss 11 winner Shilpa Shinde joined Congress in Mumbai, now Ramayana actor Arun Govil, who played Lord Rama’s Character in Ramanand Sagar’s television serial 1980s, joins Congress.

The actor has joined Congress from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. According to a report by TOI, Govil, who is close to the Congress party, may prove to be a game-changer in Indore. From Indore, the Congress has repeatedly lost the seat eight times to Lok Sabha Speaker and MP Sumitra Mahajan.

Notably, Bhopal and Indore constituencies are considered as BJP’s impregnable fortresses. According to a report by TOI, state Congress media cell coordinator Narendra Saluja confirmed the development and said Govil’s name is being discussed.

Saluja also said if Govli applies for a ticket from the Congress party, his application will be considered on a serious note. Interestingly, his wife hails from Indore.
