To take on the market leader in the price war, Airtel has increased the daily data limit of their Rs 399 data pack which also comes with unlimited calling benefits, Airtel is said to have raised the daily data limit from 1.4 GB per day to 2.4 GB of daily 4G data benefits.
This revision has been done for a limited set of users only. The move will help Airtel compete better against Jio, which offers 1.5GB data per day for 84 days at the same price. Airtel's Rs 399 plan also offers unlimited voice calls for a period of 70 days. For some users, the validity is set at 84 days and the increased data limit is applicable to only these users.
Therefore, users who are entitled to the Rs. 399 plan with 84-day validity will now enjoy 2.4GB data per day, 100 SMS messages per day, and unlimited voice calls. This brings the cost of data provided by Airtel to only Rs. 1.97 per GB, which is the lowest rate in the industry right now leaving behind Jio in terms of cheapest data providers.
Reliance Jio had recently announced a huge cut in their Rs 399 plan and brought it down to Rs 299 making a cut of Rs 100. The Airtel's step looks like a precautionary proactive step to lure customers and lose any more of their users to Reliance Jio's predatory price policy.
Jio has also launched a new cashback offer for their prepaid subscribers who will get 20 percent cash back (maximum up to Rs. 50) on purchasing a recharge pack from the MyJio app or Jio.com website and paying for the transaction with PhonePe. Called the 'Holiday Hungama' offer, this cashback offer will be applicable from June 1 to June 15.
