Reliance Jio effect: Jio users saved this huge amount in a year, how much did you save?

Reliance Jio has achieved one more benchmark , from the day of its launch in September 16. According to the reports of Indian Institute of competitiveness, Jio’s low-cost telecom services has helped its customer to save $10 billion annually. According to the reports ,Reliance Jio low cost data packages has affected the average cost of data pack, as a result average cost of the data pack has plunged down heavily from Rs 152 to Rs 10. The affordable rates have helped to expand the internet services across India making it possible to reach out the larger population.

 


Reliance Jio became successful in catering newer segments of society, who were deprived by the internet services till now and created a digital gap in the society. IFC report further states that, if everything goes well then Jio will make the contribution of 5.65% in India’s per capita GDP. “As per our calculations, even the most conservative estimate shows that due to Jio’s entry, the annual financial savings to the consumers would be to the tune of $ 10 billion,” said the report by Institute for Competitiveness(IFC).

Increasing growth of internet will help in the growth of telecom sector as well as in others economic sectors too, which requires internet support. In the six months of the launch of Jio, India became the highest mobile data consumer with the use of 1billion GB data every month. IFC has made the analysis on the effect of the Jio on Internet economic growth. They used the data of model 2004-2014 of 18 states to measure the penetration of Internet.
