Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Communications is planning to shut Down this phone

Reliance communication owned by Reliance Industries is planning to shut down its 2G mobile phones in upcoming months. The company had already asked their worker to quit as a part of its shutting down 2G phones process, claim the sources. However, the company will continue to provide its 3G and 4G services to its users until they will continue to make good profit claims the industry insider.

The executive director of Reliance Communication Gurdeep Singh has communicated with his employees that it has reached a "situation where we need to call it a day on our wireless business and this would lead to the closure of wireless business 30 days from now".

The Reliance communication will "continue to operate ILD voice, consumer voice and 4G dongle postpaid services and mobile tower business until the time they remain profitable and all the other business will be shut down”, Gurdeep has said.

Mr Singh is also planning to shut down its DTH business once its licence expires on 21 November.

The company had planned to shut down after it has failed to do its wireless business merger deal with Aircel earlier in the starting of this month. Last year in September, Reliance communication and Aircel has signed a contract to merge their mobile business.

The company is under a debt of Rs. 46,000 crore, that's why Mukesh Ambani was planning its merger with Aircel and with the merger Reliance communication was pushing to reduce its debt.
