Jaipur: The Cyclone team of the Police Commissionerate Range, Jodhpur, has arrested a constable who was absconding with a reward of 50,000 rupees in connection with the SI paper leak case. The constable, Shaitan Ram, was arrested from Sri Ganganagar on Wednesday.
Shaitan Ram, a resident of Sanchore, was posted at the Police Commissionerate, Jodhpur. He was considered the kingpin of the SI paper leak case. After he went missing from duty, the SOG announced a reward of 50,000 rupees for his arrest.
According to IG Range Jodhpur, Vikas Kumar, Shaitan Ram had provided the leaked question paper to newly recruited Sub-Inspector Ajay Bishnoi, who was arrested earlier in connection with the case. During interrogation, Shaitan Ram will reveal who had provided him with the leaked question paper.
The police had received information that Shaitan Ram was working as a laborer in Hyderabad and Karimnagar, and a team of police officers had gone to these places in plain clothes to search for him. However, they could not find him at that time.
Shaitan Ram, a 2015 batch constable, had worked in the Crime Special Team (CST), Traffic Police, and Dangiawas police station. He had gone missing from duty after the SI paper leak case came to light, and the newly recruited police officers were arrested.
The arrested constable has been handed over to the SOG, Jaipur, for further action.
