Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): In a major relief to parents, the School Education Department has relaxed the minimum age limit for admission to Class 1 from six years to five years and six months.

The department has issued new guidelines, allowing children five years and six months old as of September 30, 2024, to take admission in Class 1.

Earlier, the minimum age limit for admission to Class 1 was six years, which was causing problems for parents. Children who had completed their pre-primary education were often left out due to the age limit, forcing them to repeat a year.

The School Education Department has now changed the baseline for admission to nursery, KG-1, and KG-2 to July 31, 2024, and for Class 1 to September 30, 2024. This means that children who are five years and six months old as of September 30, 2024, can now take admission in Class 1.

This decision is expected to benefit many parents who were facing difficulties due to the earlier age limit. The department's decision is seen as a major relief, as it will allow more children to take admission in Class 1 without having to repeat a year.
