Bengaluru: The Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna, flagged off the Vande Bharat Express train with an additional halt at Yadgir station on Saturday evening. The minister inaugurated the train remotely through video conferencing from the Bengaluru railway division's conference hall.
The Minister said that this was a moment of joy for the people of the region as it was the first Vande Bharat Express train to stop at Yadgir station. He added that the train, which was indigenously developed, had several world-class features that provided better passenger comfort and safety.
The minister also stated that the budget allocation for railways in Karnataka for 2024-25 was Rs 7,560 crore, which was nine times the average annual allocation during the 2009-14 period. He further mentioned that all major routes in Karnataka had been doubled, and 90% of the railway tracks in the state had been electrified.
The event was attended by Bengaluru Railway Division Manager Yogesh Mohan, Additional Divisional Railway Manager Parikshit Mohanpuriya, Ashutosh Mathur, and other railway officials. A separate function was organized at Yadgir railway station, which was attended by MLA Sharanagouda Kandakur, Gurmitkal, South Central Railway's Additional General Manager R. Dhananjaylu, and other railway officials.
