Barmer (Rajasthan): The protest by the Barmer Oil and Gas Field Labor Union against Thermoex Company continued for the second day on Thursday.

Ummed Singh, the president of the Barmer Oil and Gas Field Labor Union, Nagrana, Barmer, wrote a letter to Cairn FGM, listing out their demands and seeking appropriate action. According to Swaroop Singh, the union's spokesperson, the company has been consistently harassing labourers. Although the company has been increasing the contract period with labourers every year, it has not provided a salary hike.

The company management had issued an order on May 24 to discontinue the 21-21 day pattern, which was opposed by labourers, and later withdrew it. Now, from June 24, the company has directed labourers to perform their duties according to a 6-1 day pattern, which has sparked a protest from labourers.
