Hit-and-Run Accused Caught in Gujarat After Fleeing Udaipur

Udaipur (Rajasthan): The accused in the hit-and-run case in Mali Colony was detained by the police on Wednesday from Modasa in Gujarat. The police are still gathering information about the incident from the accused.

According to the police, the accused, Ramesh Lohar, a resident of Eklingpura, was driving the car with his friends under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred in Mali Colony. After the incident, the accused left the car at his relative's house in Rani Bavdi.

Later, the accused went to his sister's house in Jojawar village in Pali, and then left for Gujarat on Tuesday afternoon. The police team searched for the accused in Jojawar but did not find him. On receiving information from his sister, the police went to Modasa, where they found the accused at the railway station. The accused was about to flee to Mumbai or another place but was brought back to Udaipur.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that there were three to four people in the car at the time of the incident. After the arrest, the SP also arrived at the police station.

Sister Claims Cow Caused the Accident

According to sources, the accused had parked the car at his sister's house in Udaipur. His sister claimed that the accident occurred when a cow suddenly appeared in front of the car, causing the driver to lose control and resulting in the accident.

The accused, Ramesh Lohar, worked in the furniture business. He had borrowed the luxury car from his friend and relative, Narayanlal Lohar, a resident of Upali Odan, two to three days before the incident. In exchange, the accused had given Narayanlal his own car.

The Case

On Sunday evening, around 9:45 pm, a luxury car lost control and hit pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles in Mali Colony. In the accident, Uttaraksh Goyal, son of DIG Rajendra Prasad Goyal, and bike rider Bhagwatilal were injured. Uttaraksh received serious head injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
