Mundawar: With the rising prices of petrol, people in the region are increasingly opting for CNG kits in their vehicles, with many getting them fitted from Delhi and Gurgaon. In the last six months, many have converted their vehicles to CNG and LPG.
The authenticity of these kits and dealers can only be verified after the RC (Registration Certificate) is updated, which often leaves people in the dark. As a result, many are getting kits fitted by local mechanics, which can lead to problems later on.
Cheap CNG Kits Luring Customers
CNG kits are being fitted in Gurgaon and Delhi for Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000, while in Jaipur, they are being fitted for Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000. People are attracted to these cheaper options but often end up with unauthorized kits. During the RC update process, it is revealed that these kits are not authorized.
In Alwar and other towns, some mechanics have also started selling CNG kits from Delhi at lower prices, further complicating the situation.
Verification is the Only Way
The authenticity of these kits can only be verified during the verification process at the RTO (Regional Transport Office). Even then, it is only revealed when the vehicle is physically inspected. Many times, inspectors do not conduct a thorough physical inspection, and the truth only comes to light when the documents are checked. As per the Central Government's Petroleum Ministry, a certification is required for CNG kits, which is often missing in these unauthorized kits.
