Ahmedabad: The city witnessed heavy rainfall for the second consecutive day on Friday, with several areas receiving heavy showers. Memco area received the highest rainfall of 60 mm (approximately 2.5 inches) in the city.
The continuous rainfall led to waterlogging in low-lying areas, and some houses in Sardarnagar ward were also inundated with rainwater. The city's weather remained pleasant due to the rainfall.
According to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's Monsoon Control Room, the highest rainfall of 60 mm was recorded in Memco between 12 pm and 6 pm on Friday. Other areas that received significant rainfall include Naroda (59 mm), Kotarpur (46 mm), Kathwada (20 mm), Nikol (19 mm), Chandkheda (19 mm), Dudheshwar (18 mm), Ranip (16 mm), and Ramol and Chandlodiya (14 mm each).
The heavy rainfall in the evening led to waterlogging in several areas, including Kubernagar, Memco, Nanachiloda, Naroda, and Sardarnagar. Some shops and houses in Kubernagar were also affected by the waterlogging.
Vasna Barrage Gate Opened to Control Water Level
Due to the rainfall, the water level at Vasna Barrage reached 133 feet by 6 pm on Friday. To maintain the water level, gate number 30 of the barrage was opened by half a foot. The Municipal Corporation claimed that the waterlogging issues in various wards were resolved in time.
