Government Doctor Accused of Feticide

Bagalkot (Karnataka): In a shocking incident, a government doctor has been accused of feticide and sex determination. The Central government's team, comprising more than 10 officials, conducted a surprise raid at a private hospital owned by Dr. Kavita Shivnaykar, a government doctor, in Bagalkot district.

According to sources, the raid was conducted following an anonymous complaint. The team found equipment used for sex determination and feticide at the hospital. The Health Department has decided to file a complaint against Dr Kavita Shivnaykar and three other owners of the hospital.

The raid was part of a larger operation, where three hospitals in the district were raided. The hospitals included Dr. Asha Malghan's Malghan Hospital in Mudhol, Dr. Bhantnur's Banashankari Hospital in Guledgudda, and Dr. Kavita Shivnaykar's Renuka Hospital in Badami. The authorities seized scanning machines and sealed the hospitals.

The raid comes after a similar incident was reported in Mahalingpur last month. "We will take strict action against those found guilty of feticide and sex determination," said Dr Jayashree Emmi, District Health Officer, Bagalkot.

The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are determined to take strict action against those found guilty of violating the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act.
