Domestic Animal Samples to Be Tested

Banswara: The Chandipura virus has once again raised concerns in the state. In a new development, samples of domestic animals from the homes of people infected with the virus will also be taken for testing.

If a positive case is found in a household, samples of domestic animals will be collected through the Animal Husbandry Department and sent to the laboratory for testing.

The Health Department has issued an advisory to all medical colleges in the state, instructing them to take necessary precautions.

The department has also directed the Animal Husbandry Department to take measures to prevent the spread of the virus among animals.

During the survey, if any suspected patient is found, the nearest medical college's microbiology team will collect samples and send them to the laboratory in Pune for testing. In case of a positive result, samples of people who came in contact with the infected person will also be taken.

It is worth noting that after a positive case of Chandipura virus was reported in Dungarpur, the department has been on high alert. The Health Minister has instructed the department to take necessary steps to prevent the spread of the disease.

Additional Chief Secretary Shubhra Singh has said that information about the symptoms, testing, treatment, prevention, and vector control of the disease will be provided to ensure proper management.

The department has also issued instructions for a house-to-house survey. Director of Public Health Dr. Ravi Prakash Mathur has said that patients with acute encephalitis syndrome will be referred to the nearest district hospital or medical college. Asha, ANM, and CHOs have been instructed to conduct a house-to-house survey and take preventive measures in the surrounding areas of the infected person's home.

Samples include blood samples, throat swabs, urine samples, and spine CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) samples.

The department has issued an advisory to all block officers, and all necessary precautions are being taken.
