The people of Pakistan were hoping that Babar Azam will lift the Asia Cup 2022 trophy but Sri Lanka dashed their hopes with a 24-run marvellous win in the final in Dubai on September 11.

Former Pakistan captain and current Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja was also not happy after his side's shocking loss to Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lanka.

After the enthralling match, an Indian reporter asked the PCB chief if he had a message for the Pakistan public at home, Ramiz snapped and immediately replied, "You must be from India and will be very happy now that Pakistan has lost”.

The reporter replied that he was also unhappy with the match's outcome. The argument between the two continued for a few seconds before Ramiz tried to snatched his phone and walked away to answer some other journalists’ questions. Ramiz Raja has attracted a lot of backlash for his behaviour.

The Pakistan Cricket Team won the toss and chose to bowl first in the Asia Cup 2022. After controlling the first innings by reducing Sri Lanka to 58/5, Pakistan failed to take wickets in the second half; with Bhanuka Rajapaksa scoring 71 not out to lift the Lankans to 170.

Pakistan batters, from the start, looked like they were never in the chase. The Babar Azam-led side lost two wickets in the same over. Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed got out. After the loss, the required run rate had reached 12 and it was a matter of time before Sri Lanka sealed the match and clinched their 6th Asia Cup title.
