Busto Arsizio [Italy]: On the opening day of the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifier in Busto Arsizio, Italy, Deepak Bhoria, the World Championships bronze medallist in the 51kg category, faced a formidable challenge against Huseynov Nijat of Azerbaijan.
Unfortunately, Deepak Bhoria bowed out after a closely fought contest, losing both the first and second rounds with an identical 2-3 scoreline.
The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) reported that the Azerbaijani boxer's constant movement and pace proved challenging for Deepak, making it difficult for him to launch effective attacks.
Narender (92kg) Succumbs to Dominant Nelvie Tiafack
In another round of 64 clash, Narender, the Asian Games bronze medallist in the 92kg category, faced off against Nelvie Tiafack from Germany.
The bout turned out to be a one-sided affair, with the 2022 European Championships gold medallist dominating the first round and securing a 4-1 margin.
Despite Narender's efforts to recover lost ground in the subsequent round, the German boxer clinched the victory with a 3-2 scoreline. It was a challenging match for Narender, who couldn't find the breakthrough needed to advance in the competition.
