Asian Games gold medalist Hima Das secures first division in Assam class XII exam
Sprinter Hima Das secured first division in Arts and Humanities stream of examination held by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). Hima scored 349 marks out of 500 with 80 above in Assamese language.
Hima gave her exam a year later in February 2019 coming straight from her training in Turkey. Instead of staying at home she chose to stay at Sports Authority of India (SAI) hostel in Guwahati, 120 kms from her examination centre in Dhing. Hima used to practice whenever she got some free time in between her exams. Hima was in Poland for World relays when the results were announced.
Hima’s father Ranjit Das said, “We are happy with her academic performance. It is now time for her to give her best on the athletic track, which she was destined to pursue.”
Hima rose to fame after she became the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal in a track event at the IAAF World U20 Championships. Hima went on to win a gold medal at Asian Games held in Jakarta last year.
