Solar Eclipse 2019: Various myths, superstitions inspire number of hilarious jokes on Twitter
The last solar eclipse of the decade came into sight at 7:59 am this morning. A solar eclipse is an astronomical occurrence that takes place when the moon casts a shadow on parts of the earth. While during a partial and annual solar eclipses, the moon only blocks a part of the sun.
It can be more or less as dark as night during a full solar eclipse. In India, the partial solar eclipse will be observable from parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra and Delhi today. The eclipse would reach its maximal point at 10:47 am.
However, various myths and superstitions associated with the solar eclipse have given way to number of hysterical gags on Twitter. Some people are of the opinion that cooking and eating during a solar eclipse is dangerous, while others say that stepping out at all during an eclipse can be unsafe.

It is harmful to see solar eclipse with naked eyes. Looking at the sun during a solar eclipse can lead to permanent damage to the retina. To see the eclipse, one must use special eclipse glasses, scientists say.
