ISRO successfully launch of IRNSS-1l satellite brought smile back on the faces of scientists

In yet another victory for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for its successful launch of the PSLV-C41 rocket carrying India’s eight navigation satellite IRNS-11 from Sriharikota. The satellite was launched on 12 April 2018 at 4:04 am.

The successful launch has brought the smile on the faces of ISRO’s scientists. This happened when the space agency was struggling to restore the snapped link with its recently launched communication satellite i.e. GSAT-6A.

However, the launch of the satellite was held in four stages and the total time taken for the rocket to put the satellite into the intended orbit was 19 minutes.

As per the ISRO Chairman, IRNSS-1l was placed successfully in the designated orbit. IRNSS-1l is expected to replace India's first navigation satellite IRNSS-1A, whose three rubidium atomic clocks have been stopped working.

However, the seven satellites are part of the NavlC navigation satellite constellation. This was the second attempt of ISRO for replacing the satellite IRNSS-1A.

Earlier, the previous mission of a PSLV which was carrying IRNSS-1H in the month of August got failed after the heat shield covering the satellite failed to separate.

The IRNSS-1I mission takes place two weeks after the space agency launched GSAT-6A on board GSLV Mk-II. Though the rocket placed GSAT-6A in orbit, the ISRO lost communication with the satellite within two days.
