Husband-wife director duo Gyathri Pushkar's Tamil film Vikram Vedha emerged as the second Tamil blockbuster of the year after the Tamil dubbed version of SS Rajamouli film, Baahubali 2. The action thriller, which had released on July 21 is unaffected by the new Tamil releases and had a good second week at the box office. The total collection of the film worldwide is set to cross the Rs.40 crore mark soon, which is impressive for a non-superstar film. Except for Baahubali 2, none of the Tamil films featuring A-list stars have managed to deliver a blockbuster at the Tamil Nadu box office.
Vikram Vedha stars R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles. Madhavan portrays an encounter specialist in the film, whereas Vijay Sethupathi plays the role of a gangster.
