The shooting of Malayalam actor Mohanlal's most ambitious project, Randamoozham: The Mahabharata is slated to begin in 2018. The film, an adaptation of legendary Malayalam writer MT Vasudevan Nair's award winning novel with same title, will be based on the epic Mahabharatha. The story will be told through the perspective of Bheemasena and will see Lalettan essaying the lead role of Bheemasena. Directed by ad-film maker and Odiyan fame VA Shrikumar Menon, Randamoozham: The Mahabharata is reportedly bankrolled for a whopping budget of Rs. 1000 crore to make it as the costliest Indian film made till date.

In a recent interview, MT Vasudevan Nair had stated that Randamoozham: The Mahabharata will be five hours and 20 minutes long and would follow the same structure as the novel. He also added that the film will feature the childhood portions of the Pandava clan as well.

Similar to SS Rajamouli's Baahubali series, Randamoozham: The Mahabharata too will be made in two parts and will hit the screens in 2020.
