After Kamal Haasan, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi too came in support of Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil film Mersal after the BJP leaders demanded removal of GST dialogues from the film.
Catch had earlier reported that many BJP leaders have criticised the film for Vijay's dialogues on Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India campaign. They also demanded an immediate removal of those dialogues from the film.
However, On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi made a direct attack to Modi and asked him not to “demon-etise” Tamil pride by interfering in what is shown in cinemas.
“Mr. Modi, Cinema is a deep expression of Tamil culture and language. Don’t try to demon-etise Tamil pride by interfering in Mersal,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted.
