Mersal: Thalapathy Vijay, Baahubali writer's film becomes first South Indian movie to get trademarked

After becoming South India's first film to bag the exclusive emoji from Twitter India, Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming film Mersal is again in news, this time due to its title. The film, tipped to the 100th film of popular Tamil production studio Sri Thenandal Films, has been directed by Atlee and written by KV Vijayendra Prasad of Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The music of Mersal has been composed by Oscar award winning composer AR Rahman.

And now, much to the delight of the Thalapathy fans, Mersal becomes the first South Indian film to trademark its title. Trademarking a title means if anyone who are willing to use the word Mersal in association with their brands, they will have to pay money to the makers of Mersal. Reportedly, the makers took six months time to get the trademark process done.

Mersal also stars Kajal, Samantha and Nitya Menen in the female leads.
