Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and national award winning director Priyadarshan are considered as one of the most successful actor-director duo in Bollywood. The hit duo had collaborated in seven films, Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhaag, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyya, De Dana Dan and Khatta Meetha and all of them proved to be successful at the Box Office. In fact, the duo's 2000 hit comedy Hera Pheri is touted as a much needed hit for the Bollywood Khiladi after a string of flops.
In a recent interview, Akshay Kumar had revealed he is waiting to do a horror comedy like Priyadarshan's Bhool Bhulaiyya.
The Airlift actor was asked after doing comedy, social and romantic movies, what is that one genre that he really looks forward to in the future. To this, Akshay Kumar said he wants to do a film like Bhool Bhulaiyya.
"I really like horror comedies. I want to do a film like Priyadarhan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa. I want to work in a film like that. I am looking for a good script".
Bhool Bhulaiyya was the remake of Mohanlal - Shobana's 1993 blockbuster Manichitrathazhu. The original version is considered as one of the best thrillers ever made in India. The content of the film was so strong that it was also remade in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil. Commendably, all the remakes were met with huge success. The film bagged the National award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and best actress for Shobana. Manichitrathazhu also broke all the records in Malayalam cinema history till that point of time and was also the highest-grossing Malayalam film of the year.
