Tamil film Mersal is considered as a landmark film in superstar Thalapathy Vijay's acting career. The action entertainer, directed by Atlee has emerged as the fifth South Indian film to mint more than Rs. 250 crores worldwide after Rajinikanth's Enthiran, Kabali and SS Rajamouli's Baahubali series.
However, Mersal had to face lot of criticism upon its theatrical release due to the few dialogues against GST in the film.
And now, seems like Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming film with hit filmmaker AR Murugadoss is once again set to make a big splash in Tamil Nadu politics. The untitled film is already in news ever since the makers released few stills from the film hinted at political rallies.
The film, tentatively titled Thalapathy 62 (62nd film of Vijay), will be jointly bankrolled by Sun Pictures and Lyca Productions. The film also marks Sun Pictures comeback to Tamil cinema after a seven year gap and Thalapathy Vijay's third association with AR Murugadoss after Thuppakki and Kaththi.
AR Rahman, who had composed music of Vijay's previous release, the blockbuster Mersal has been finalized as the music composer of the film. The film also stars Keerthy Suresh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar.
