Earlier this year, actor Shah Rukh Khan had a video viral on social media, in which he had appeared helping a beggar. After this incident, people termed SRK the 'king of real life'. Now, his name has once again been in the limelight for helping the needy. Shah Rukh Khan grabbed the headlines after providing a help of five lakh rupees to Punjab ailing boxer player Kaur Singh (69).

Kaur Singh was struggling to pay his medical bills. On December 13, a news published in a newspaper about Singh had sent an emotional to the actor, stating that the gold medalist of the 1982 Asian Games is unable to pay Rs two lakh to treat his heart condition. The money was given through Shah Rukh's Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR's) team.

In a statement to TOI on Saturday, the Bollywood star said, “Sportspersons bring pride to a country and it is our duty to look after them as a society. After reading about Kaur Singh, we as a sporting unit, felt the need to stand by our fellow sportsman and urge everyone else to do the same in their own way. We wish Kaur Singh a speedy recovery and a healthy life.”

Kaur who felt overwhelmed with this gesture said, “after receiving such huge support from all over the country, I feel as if I am reliving the glory of the past. I thank everyone who came out and extended help.”
