Asian Games gold medallist Sudha Singh refused to accept Rs 30 lakh award from CM Yogi Adityanath because of this promise

Sudha Singh, Asian gold medallist and nine-time national champion in 3,000m steeplechase had refused to receive Rs 30 lakh award from the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday.

Yes, Sudha Sing didn’t accept the cheque of Rs 30 lakh from UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as she was promised by the government that she will get a government job with the state’s sports directorate at an event in Lucknow.


As per the reports, the athlete was very angry as the government refused to offer her deputy director’s post in UP sports directorate even after big achievements for the country at the 2010 Asian Games (Guangzhou) and also won silver in 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.

As she was awarded the amount from the UP CM but she left the event which governor Ram Naik was presiding over and also refused to receive the cheque form Yogi Adityanath.
Sudha said that she want a job not money. She also told that let this money should be distributed to the young sportspersons of the state. Because of this, event was also halted for five minutes.

 

 

Asian gold medallist also said that there are some people in the sports directorate who do not want her to work there. However, Sudha is a assistant commercial manager with Central Railway in Mumbai.

Later, Sudha has accepted the cheque and scroll after UP CM assure her for job.
But, she also said that ‘If I do not get the job as deputy director, sports, I will return my prize money and leave the state forever.’
