Will PM Modi attend the oath-ceremony of Maldivian president-elected Ibrahim Mahmood Solih?

Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has been elected as the new President of Maldives and will soon to take the oath-taking ceremony on 17th November in Male.

There are the reports that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be going to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Maldivian president-elect.

As per the reports of India Today, the inaugural ceremony committee in Male have told that they have received a positive signal from New Delhi. Therefore, there are the speculations have been made that PM Modi will go the Maldives.

However, the Maldives is the only South Asian neighbour country that PM Modi has not visited since becoming the PM of the country.

However, the official invitation has been processed through diplomatic channels, said Solih’s source

Meanwhile, the conversation has already begun between both sides regarding the visit of PM Modi to the Maldives.

However, Maldives newly-elected president wanted that Prime Minister Modi should attend his oath-taking ceremony as they are waiting for the confirmation.

Dinesh Patnaik, joint secretary in MEA handling the Indian Ocean Region has received the message when in the Maldives from 24th October to 26th October and met the Transitional Committee chairman Abdulla Shahid and director general of transition, Ahmed Latheef.

PM Modi was the first world leader who called Solih to congratulate him on becoming the new President of the country. Also, President-elect thanked Modi for sending his good wishes to him.
