As Lok Sabha Election is approaching, Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister is all set for the mega rally for a ‘grand alliance’ of opposition parties at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground today in noon. In the huge political event, called-- the “United India Rally” several political leaders around the corners of the country joining the mega event.
At least 25 top political leaders are expected to occupy the stage of the mega event. Among the first to make an appearance are Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, DMK chief MK Stalin, former BJP leader Arun Shourie, Loktantrik Janata Dal chief Sharad Yadav and Nationalist Congress Party head Sharad Pawar. The political event opposition uniting ahead of Lok Sabha election to dethrone the PM Narendra Modi-lef Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) from power.
"Only few hours to go for the historic 'United India Rally' at Brigade Parade Grounds. I welcome all national leaders, supporters and lakhs of people to participate in today's rally to pledge to build a stronger, progressive and united India," Mamata Banerjee tweeted this morning.
As Congress president Rahul Gandhi is not turning up at the event, he has expressed his support to Mamata for the rally in a letter. Two Congress leaders -- Mallikarjun Kharge and Abhishek Manu Singhvi -- will come in his stead.
Other leaders attending the event are Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav.
As per reports, the police claimed, the Brigade Parade Ground can hold around seven lakh people. And, TMC claims that 40 lakh people will atten their mega event, the political rally of the century.
