West Bengal: After North Dinajpur, another minor girl’s body found in Malda, sexual assault suspected

Amid continuous tensions in West Bengal’s North Dinajpur after a minor girl was allegedly raped and murdered by some men, another body of a 15-year-old girl was found at a locality in Malda districts on April 25. The minor girl was also suspected to be raped and murdered.

According to the police, a youth was apprehended for his alleged role in connection with the case.

Police reached the spot after getting the information and sent the body to Malda Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.

The 15-year-old girl was missing since April 24 and her family lodged complaint after searching for her everywhere.

Police are waiting for the autopsy report that would confirm the cause of the death.

An investigation is underway and further details are awaited.

Violence erupted in West Bengal’s Uttar Dinajpur on Saturday after a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by a 20-year-old man, who was among two people arrested, police officials said.

On April 21, a body of a 17-year-old girl was found near a pond in North Dinajpur. The minor girl who went missing on April 20 is suspected to be raped and killed. As news of the incident spread, violence erupted in the district. Irate mob blocked roads and burned tyres to show their anguish and demanded justice for the victim girl. Police also resorted to lathi charge to control the situation. Two people were arrested in connection of the case

Accused Javed Ali and his father Anisur Haque, were produced in court and sent to police custody for 14 days.
