Union Minister of state Ramdas Athawale was allegedly slapped and pushed by a man while he was attending a function in Thane’s Ambernath town, late on Saturday night.
The incident happened when he was addressing the rally at a meeting and while he came down after the event, he was allegedly attacked by the accused who pounded at him, pushed and slapped him as per the eye witnesses account.
Although, Mr Athawale was rescued by some of his supporters who pushed away the attacker and roughed him up after the personal security guards and police security of Athawale pinned the attacker down and took him away from the venue.

As the latest information, the motive behind the attack is still not known and the attacker is said to be a member of the Republican Party of India, which is headed by Ramdas Athawale and is a an ally of the ruling National Democratic Alliance.
Athawale appeared a bit shaken by the incident but later on left for Mumbai shortly and the attacker was apprehended by the police for further investigations.
