The Land-for-job scam pertains to the alleged appointments made in the Indian Railways in return for land parcels gifted or sold to Lalu Yadav’s family. The alleged scam happened between 2004-2009 when Yadav was the railway minister.
The CBI, in its chargesheet, alleged that irregular appointments were made in the railway department, violating the norms and procedures of the Indian Railways for recruitment.
The central agency alleged that the candidates directly or through their family members sold lands to the Yadav family members at highly discounted rates.
Recently, the agency conducted several raids at the properties of Lalu Prasad’s relatives. It also questioned the Yadav’s son and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashvi Yadav for hours. During the raids several jewelry items and huge amount of cash were seized.
