Sadhvi Pragya, who has been accused of the 2008 Malegaon blast, joined the BJP recently and later on, was declared as the BJP candidate from Bhopal. It irked a controversy as the Opposition alleged that the ruling dispensation is giving a free hand to the terror accused and she has been accused of polarising the electoral ambiance.
While Sadhvi Pragya undermined the achievements of late martyr of 26/11 attacks and ATS cheif Hemant Karkare, she had said that he died due to her ‘curse.’ The Election Commission had immediately issued a statement asking for clarification and the BJP had sided away over it.
In her remark to the poll watchdog, Sadhvi Pragya had said, “I didn't make any defamatory comments for any martyr. I had mentioned about the torture inflicted on me on orders of the then Congress government. It's my right to put before public what had happened to me.”
