UPSC result: Karnataka's Nandini K R tops civil services exam

Nandini K R, who hails from Karnataka, has topped the prestigious civil services examination, the result of which was declared on 31 May by the UPSC.

She had taken the exam last year.

This is for the third year in a row that a woman candidate has emerged as a topper. In 2014, it was Ira Singhal who was the topped, while Tina Dabi bagged top rank in CSE 2015.

Reportedly, Nandini had clinched the top position in her fourth attempt.

Anmol Sher Singh Bedi from Punjab's Amritsar came second and Gopalakrishna Ronanki held third rank.

As many as 1,099 candidates have been recommended for various government services.

There are 220 other candidates in the waiting list.

The civil services examination is conducted by the UPSC annually in three stages-- preliminary, main and interview -- to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) among others.
