A shocking incident came to light from Rampur where a woman was set on fire after she failed to meet the husband’s dowry demands. The woman who has succumbed to 75% burn injuries was admitted to the trauma centre of Teerathanker Mahaveer Medical College in Moradabad, where she is battling for her life.
As per reports, her husband first pronounced triple talaq and then he set her on ablaze. The woman’s father in his complaint alleged that his son-in-law set their daughter on fire as they could fulfil his demand for a car.
As per police, the couple got married two years ago and have a one-year-old daughter. They have recorded woman’s statement and have filed the complaint against her husband and his relatives under Sections 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), Section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC (Indian Penal Code) and under relevant sections of Sowry Prohibition Act and the Muslim Women Protection Act.
In another incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi a woman has accused BJP MLA Ravindranath Tripathi and six others for raping her. As per woman whose husband died in 2007 met MLA’s nephew is 2014 and on the pretext of marriage, he exploited her for several years.
She further added that during 2017 UP Legislative Assembly elections MLA’s nephew got her lodged in a Bhadohi’s hotel for a month. There she was gang-raped by his family and MLA Ravindranath Tripathi.
