UP Shocker: Father, grandfather kill 16-year-old, dump body in river over love affair

A father allegedly killed his 16-year-old daughter and threw her body into a river in Uttar Pradesh's Siddharthanagar over her affair with a boy from her village, police said on April 23.

Police have arrested the deceased’s father Radheyshyam Kewat, grandfather Sitaram and another person Lahri in connection with the murder.

According to Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand, the girl’s body was found in the Rapti river on April 22. The 16-year-old was in love with a boy, and her family was against the relationship.

On April 22, while returning from a relative's place, the family members tried to convince the girl to end the relationship with the boy. However, the 16-year-old refused to end the relationship. The furious family members then killed her with a knife, put her body in a sack, and dumped it in the river to evade arrest.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
