The Jammu and Kashmir Police Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that one of the two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists killed in the Bandipora encounter was involved in several other terror attacks in the area.
The Director General of Police (DGP), S. P. Vaid, said the dreaded terrorist, identified as Pakistan national Ali alias Abu Mas, was also involved in the October 3 attack on the Border Security Force (BSF) camp that killed one jawan.
"After the encounter, we recovered two bodies- one was a local terrorist, other was a Pakistani national named Ali alias Abu Mas. Ali was instrumental in a number of incidents in Hajin area, and also involved in the BSF jawan's killing," DGP Vaid told ANI.
An encounter broke out between the security forces and the terrorists early Wednesday after an information about the presence of three to four terrorists in Hajin area was received.
Two Air force jawans were also killed in the gunfight.
"Two Indian Air Force (IAF) jawans, who were on attachment with army, have also been killed in the encounter," Vaid added.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police">Jammu and Kashmir Police, 13 personnel of the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and nine paramilitary force personnel were deployed in the operation.
