Congres leaders to touch feet of 1 lakh people in Munugode Constituency

Telangana Congress leaders, with a slogan of ‘Salute to Democracy’, will go to Munugode Constituency and touch the feet of people to connect with them and to counter the ‘money bags’ of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

Informing about the programme, A Revanth Reddy, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and Congress MP, said that the party representatives will touch the feet of 1 lakh people in bypoll-bound Munugode and inform them about the works of the Congress party.

"Telangana gained independence on September 17. This is the day when we obtained our freedom. Since September 17 is an auspicious day for Telangana state, we have scheduled a programme from this very auspicious day to inform the public about the Congress party. This programme is called 'Prajaswamyam ki Padabi Vandanam' (Salute to democracy)," said Reddy as quoted by ANI.

Reddy also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao by saying that they are using money and power to destroy democracy. He further added that BJP and TRS want to kill democracy in Munugode Constituency by spending 1,000 crores rupees to win the bypoll.

The programme is scheduled to begin on September 17, the day when the Telangana state got independence.

This event by the Congress party comes ahead of the Munugode assembly bypoll. The bypoll in the constituency is necessitated after sitting Congress MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy resigned from the party and joined the BJP.

As per ANI, the Telangana Congress leaders will meet senior party leaders in Delhi on August 23 to make a strategy for winning the Munugode bye-elections.
