Suspended AAP leader Tahir Hussain, who was fleeing after he was linked to the murder of an IB staffer during the Delhi violence, has stated that he will surrender before the Delhi court on Thursday. Talking to India Today which traced the riot accused, Tahir claimed to be a victim of a witch hunt.

Ahead of surrendering in the court, Tahir told India Today that he was in the clear and a victim himself. "My family and I ran away from rioters and the police were also informed about it. On February 24, I left with my family in the presence of police. The police took possession of the building," Tahir added.

On the killing of Intelligence Bureau’s staffer, Tahir stated that Ankit Sharma losing life in the violence is sad. The suspended AAP leader, however, hoped that a non-partisan investigation into the matter will deliver the truth.

Tahir Hussain, booked in the murder case had on Tuesday moved a Delhi court seeking anticipatory bail in the matter filed in connection with the alleged murder of IB staffer. District and Session Judge had, however, postponed the hearing for Wednesday.

Previously, the Aam Aadmi Party suspended Tahir Hussain from the primary membership of the party. The family of the deceased, who was found dead in a drain in Chand Bagh area, had accused Tahir of being behind the murder.

On the complaint of Ankit’s father, the police had lodged an FIR against Tahir Hussain, who had dismissed the accusation.

Earlier, suspended AAP councillor had denied any participation in the violence or the murder of Ankit Sharma. Tahir had said, "These are lies and baseless accusations. For our safety, my family and I had moved away from our home in police presence."

Tahir, however, stated, "I worked to stop violence, I'm innocent. I stopped people from climbing up my building. On February 24, police conducted a search of my building and moved us out from there. Later, we shifted to a safe location."
