Subramanian Swamy calls Kartarpur corridor can be misuse; says, 'one can get a passport in Rs 250 from Chandni Chowk'

The Bhartiya Janta Party leader Subramanian Swamy calls Kartarpur corridor in Pakistan of which the foundation and an opening ceremony on 28th November, a dangerous move and said it can be misused as there are no proper checking.

Subramanian Swamy said it can be misused as one can easily get a passport for Rs 250 from Delhi's Chandni Chowk.


“Kartarpur corridor is dangerous to move, can be misused as there are no proper checks, just showing passport not enough. You can get a passport in Chandni Chowk for Rs 250. Ppl should register 6 months in advance, &we should not allow ppl from Pakistan to come here,” said Subramanian Swamy.

On 28th November, Pak PM will lay the foundation stone for the Gurudwara’s corridor on the Pakistan side. While on 26th November, President Ram Nath Kovind and also Punjab CM Amarinder Singh will inaugurate from the Indian side.

Congress leader and Punja Minister accepted the invitation by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan for the foundation-opening ceremony of the Kartarpur Sahib corridor in Pakistan. Also, Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has accepted Pakistan's invitation to attend the groundbreaking ceremony of the corridor in the neighbouring country. But Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh and Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj declined the invitation.

The foundation stone laying ceremony will be performed in the Mann village of Gurdaspur district in Punjab.

The development of the corridor will facilitate lakhs of pilgrims from India to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur on the banks of river Ravi, in Pakistan, where Guru Nanak Dev spent 18 years.
