Akali Dal activists in Ludhiana blackened the statue of the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and sparked the controversy. Punjab Pradesh Congress committee president and Gurdaspur MP Sunil Jakhar has condemned this act committed by the activists and demanded the apology.
Jakhar demanded that the president of Akali Dal should apologise for the heinous act by the party workers.
On Tuesday, Sunil Jakhar alleged that after losing the public support, the workers of the Akali Dal are indulging in such dirty politics. He added that the people of the state would not like this kind of politics, a press release said.
He also said that Parkash Singh Badal led SA-BJP alliance failed in their 10 years regime to take the actions against those people who were responsible for the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and the killings of two peaceful protesters at Behbal Kalan in Faridabad district.
On the contrary, false cases had been lodged against the innocent people which resulted in the defeat of the SAD-BJP alliance in the 2017 Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections.
Due to the misrule of the SAD-BJP alliance for ten years, Punjab has suffered a lot from all fronts and the government of Capt. Amarinder Singh has brought the development to the state back, Jakhar said.
He also told that SAD unable to win a single seat in Punjab in the upcoming general assembly elections 2019 and this is the reason why SAD is indulging in such cheap politics.
However, Jakhar supported the stand that has been taken by chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh of taking strict action against the accused of the said Ludhiana incident.
