Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on 29 November appointed Snehlata Shrivastava, as Secretary-General of Lok Sabha and Lok Sabha Secretariat with effect from 1 December.
Shrivastava will be the first woman secretary general of the Lok Sabha. She will assume charge on December 1 and her tenure will end on 30 November next year.
The new appointment comes before the winter session of Parliament, which will commences on 15 December. Shrivastava is a senior Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer-1982 Batch Madhya Pradesh Cadre.
She is appointed as Additional Secretary of Department of Financial Services in Finance Ministry (MOF) Government of India (GOI).
