In a shocking incident, a television actor has alleged ‘third-degree’ torture by Ghaziabad police and being thrashed with a leather strap. According to TimesNow reports, the victim has alleged that after was involved in a brawl at a shopping mall on May 12, the Ghaziabad police in Uttar Pradesh allegedly assaulted him.
The victim identified as Ansh Arora, a resident of Vaishali in Ghaziabad. He is a TV serial actor, who had also worked in Ekta Kapoor produced TV shows, said the police treated him like a criminal.
According to a report in Times Of India, the actor visited a Shoprix mall on the intervening night of May 11 and ordered a hotdog. He was asked to wait for an hour, after which Ansh started to fight with the staff and broke computer systems.
"I asked them to cancel the order. Instead, they started behaving rudely with me. I retorted and broke a few products, including computer sets, at the shop in anger," the report quoted the 28-year-old actor as saying.
The television actor said that he, along with his brother went to the mall again the next day to apologise for his rude behaviour the previous night. According to him, the male staffer then called the police and he and his brother were taken away by the Indirapuram police.
The police put him in lockup and were allegedly beaten up with a leather strap, said the actor. He also added that the police officers threatened him with electric shocks.
The actor was produced before the magistrate the next day and was granted bail. Meanwhile, Ansh also claimed that he was admitted to Max hospital after he complained of uneasiness.
"No one is above the law, whether he is an actor or anybody else. I will personally look into the case. If a police officer is found guilty, strict action will be taken against him. I am checking footage from all CCTV cameras installed at the police station,” the report quoted the Ghaziabad SP City, Shlok Kumar, adding the police will probe the allegations.
