Shocking! Over 69 died in UP, Bihar and Uttarakhand in 4 days after consuming adulterated liquor; several admitted

Even after alcohol ban in Bihar, poisonous liquor has been wreaked in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. In Uttarakhand's Saharanpur and Roorkee, 69 people have been died after consuming poisonous liquor. While, the condition of 120 people is reported critical, who are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

On Friday, the CM Yogi Adityanath governement has ordered an investigation in the case. At the same time, the government of Uttarakhand and Bihar are also investigating the matter.


According to report in Indian Express, the police said, residents of Saharanpur’s Umahi, Salempur and Gaganledi villages had gone to Haridwar to take part in a ‘tehravin’ ritual (the 13th day of mourning — to mark a death). Where they consumed liquor at the event and some of them brought a few liquor packs back to Saharanpur. Those packets of liqour were distributed to other villagers following which those who consumed the liquor started vomiting. They were rushed to the nearest hospital.

According to the reports, 44 people have died in the Nagal, Gaagalhari and Deoband areas of Saharanpur district late on Friday night. At the same time, more than 50 people have been admitted to the hospital. Apart from this, the condition of several people in the medical hospital of Meerut is critical.

Due to negligence in the matter, the Yogi Government has suspended 10 inspectors and 2 constables of 10 policemen and excise department, including Nagal police station in charge. 4 policemen including Mishra have also been suspended. Even after the liquor ban in Bihar, there are many matters of alcohol reported in the state. The poisonous liquor has been also reported in Bihar.

"If early treatment was taken then the death toll would be much lesser. The second thing is that a man called Pintu came back with 30 pouches and sold them. One or two pouches have been recovered and anyone who drank from those pouches is also dead or in hospital," said Saharanpur District Magistrate AK Pandey. 

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat has announced to give a compensation of Rs. 2 lakhs each to the kin of the deceased & Rs.50,000 each to those who are in a critical condition after consumption of illicit liquor in Roorkee.

On the other hand the state police have started a crackdown on illicit liquor manufacture and sales at the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. "We will catch everyone involved, either this side of the border or that side. This will be an ongoing operation. We cannot deny the deaths but we will clamp down, we have been applying pressure on the border areas and we don't know the manufacture of spurious liquor in our areas," said Saharanpur Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar.
